Tribute to legendary Indian Singer Lata Mangeshkar

Tribute: Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, 92, one of the most celebrated Indian singers of all time, passes away on February 6, 2022, leaving a lasting legacy of her singing career spanning more than seven decades. The recipient of India's highest civilian honor, Bharat Ratna in 2001, she is considered as singer of most recorded songs with tenths of thousands songs to her credit, Mangeshkar will be remembered by the many generations to come.


She eulogized the brave Indian army including Gurkhas whose martyrdom protected the sovereignty of the nation in her iconic patriotic song, ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’. Wikipediya says, “She is widely considered as one of the greatest and most influential singers in India.”


Born on September 28, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar began her singing career at the age of 13 in 1942. She never married. Her younger sister Asha Bhosle, 88, is also legendary singer of Indian music industry.


Singer Lata Mangeshkar’s life long dedication to the music industry had transcended Indian continent and beside Hindi she sang in many dozens languages including Nepali. She was such a talented human soul that she is affectionately called as Queen of Melodies. Some of her evergreen songs are: Kora Kagaz Tha Yeh Mann Mera, Ajeeb Dastaan Hain Yeh, Aye Mere Watan ke Logon, Tu Jaha ja Chalega Mera Saaya Saath Hoga, Gata Rahe Mera Dil, Kanchhi re Kanchhi re, Aur Phir June Ki Tamanna Hai, Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jana Sanam, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Aap Ki Nazron Ne Samjha, Lag Jaa Gale, Satyam shivam sundaram and Aaaj Phir Jeene Ki.
